“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
There’s an old sweet song, “make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold.” I have been ridiculously blessed over my lifetime with amazing women friends – they are all silver and gold to me! But what a sweet reunion I had last weekend with a few women the Lord “gifted” me with when I was first a Christian in my early twenties. We were blessed to be part of a fellowship of older women who loved Jesus and gave us all the gift of time and discipleship. Now, after all these years, we are the “older women” and by the grace of God, we are the ones giving time and discipleship to younger women. What a rich heritage we have of solid biblical teaching and the godly examples of those older women who lived out the grace of the gospel in the ordinary and extraordinary events of their everyday lives. Many years have passed since we have all been in the same place together, but the evidence of “Christ in you, the hope of glory” is so evident on each face, in the stories of each of their lives, in the things that matter to them, in the things they are praying for, in the hope they share. A solid foundation in the truth proclaimed by our faithful God through the lives of His servants. May we all leave such a heritage for our families and friends!
